Eating to Not Gain Weight
Estimates show that Americans spend more than $30 billion
every year on slimming products, most of which do not work
anyways. Ridiculous? You bet. The best way to stop weight gain
is obviously not through diet pills and shakes. According to
studies, intelligent eating is the wisest and healthiest way to
stop weight gain. So, the next time you go for your Sunday
shopping, here’s what you need to put in.
Breakfast: Cut out the bagels. Go for eggs
instead. Or full fiber cereals. Research shows that a healthy
breakfast can keep you feeling full longer. Foods such a bagels
or white bread pile up the calories but crash your blood sugar
in no time.
Veggies: Up your veggie intake. Wrinkling
your nose at cabbages or broccoli is not going to do you any
good. In fact, some vegetables like beans contain substances
that act as natural appetite suppressants, over and above their
fiber content. So, every time you pass up the veggies for
fries, you are making the wrong choice twice over! And if you
are the kind of person who needs to feel full at every meal,
just stuff yourself on salads. They are good for you, make you
feel full and help you immensely the next morning!
Whole grains: White bread may taste great,
but they are full of useless calories. Why not go for whole
wheat or multi-cereal bread instead? Sure, the taste may take
some getting used to, but the grains in the bread are wonderful
for you. Whole grains are rich in fiber. So, they take longer
to digest. That is why they keep you feeling full for a longer
period of time. Look for brown rice, whole wheat and multi
grain.
Read labels: Many food items that declare
themselves as low-fat or zero-cholesterol are bogus. Do not
fall for them. Instead, look up the calorie table. That is the
correct representation of how a particular food is going to
affect your weight problem.
Keep those soft drinks back: You may love
‘em but they are little monsters in a bottle. Filled with sugar
and soda, they only serve to make you hungry for more of the
bad stuff. Choose a no-sugar, natural fruit juice instead.
Snack right: Never ever purchase crackers
and chips for snacks. These are filled with salt, sugar and
refine flour. They are also highly addictive. Snack on low fat
yoghurt, carrot sticks or some nuts instead.
